100 Mountain Finds For Your Fantasy RPG
By popular request, a d100 list of found objects, impressive sights, and unexpected encounters for players to discover while crossing a mountainous area
What’s wandering around your mountains?
Players travel a variety of terrains when going from hither to yon. Sometimes those routes traverse grand majestic ranges — sometimes they just cover a few miles of foothills that might barely be considered mountainous. In any case, you have to wonder what your players might stumble across.
Don’t expect those mountains to be empty of life or activity. Whether it be mining dwarves, traveling merchants, mad wizards, or ornery goats… this list offers some possible options for either items found or creatures encountered.
Take a look at the list and pick out some favorites for your next campaign, or take a chance and roll a d100 and improvise.
Every fifth listed item is also an encounter you can also use. Some friendly. Some not so much. Just roll a d20 and multiply by five to see who your players meet on the road over the mountain.
